Hello, I just bought a PS4 and I'm getting this error with some (not all) game updates, also with some (not all) digital game downloads. The connection will just time out and the game update or download will not start. It is always the same games that have the problem. I have tried reintializing and reinstalling the latest PS4 update from USB and Internet.
It appears to be a network issue, but I can't pin it down. I run wired through a Tp-link archer c7 and then into a 2wire DSL router from my ISP. I've put the Archer in a DMZ so no firewall rules are applying to it ->any source/destination -> any protocol -> permit all. No luck, I then opened up all recommended ports to the PS4 on the Archer and gave the PS4 a static IP. No luck. I then put the PS4 in a DMZ on the Archer, no luck. I then bypassed the Archer and went directly to the DSL router and put the PS4 on the DMZ...still no luck.
I can sign into PSN, browse the store, browse Plus....everything else works...but some game updates just will not download. I connected to a mobile hotspot on my phone....and it worked...so there is has to be something with my ISP's DSL router, I can't see what...any ideas or common "gotcha" settings I might be missing?
